Marietta ends season with loss to Baldwin-Wallace
Seniors Amanda Carraher and Nikki Driscoll honored on Senior Day

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team closed its 2008-09 campaign Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon with 75-43 loss to visiting Baldwin-Wallace College at Ban Johnson Arena. Before the game, Pioneer seniors Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) and Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) were honored during Senior Day.
Driscoll led the Pioneers (2-23, 0-18 OAC) with 10 points and two assists, while Carraher, who finished with nine points, capped her career with a school record 162 three-point field goals. Freshman post Chelsea Drake (Georgetown) also scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
Baldwin-Wallace (19-6, 14-4 OAC) was led by Ariel Brough with 14 points and four rebounds. Amanda Schroeder scored 12 points and also grabbed four rebounds in the win.
Baldwin-Wallace outscored Marietta in the paint, 38-22, and also scored 22 points off Marietta's 18 turnovers. The Yellow Jackets' bench outscored the Pioneers' bench 34-8. Baldwin-Wallace, who out-rebounded Marietta 42-27, never trailed in the game and led 37-11 at intermission.
Marietta finished 14-of-45 (.211) from the field, 3-of-11 (.273) from long range and 12-of-20 (.600) from the free throw line. Baldwin-Wallace shot 30-of-59 (.508) from the field, 5-of-15 (.333) from three-point range and 10-of-18 (.556) from the free throw line. |
