Marietta's Carraher named All-OAC honorable mention in 2008-09
Senior averaged a team-high 12.9 points this winter

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Marietta College senior wing Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Davidson) was honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) women’s basketball coaches on Wednesday (March 4) morning when she was named All-OAC honorable mention for the 2008-09 season. [All-OAC Award Winners (.pdf)]

Carraher, a four-year letterwinner and captain as a senior, led second-year Head Coach Jill Meiring’s team in scoring by averaging 12.9 points in 25 games. The wing, which played an OAC-high 37.8 minutes per game, also contributed an average of 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals this winter for the Pioneers, who finished 2-23, 0-18 in the OAC.

Carraher reached double figures in 17 games and scored a season-best 25 points in a 78-65 win over Hiram on Nov. 29. She led the team in scoring in eight games and in rebounding on 10 occasions. Carraher also posted three double-doubles this season.

Carraher graduates as the Pioneers’ all-time leader in six three-point field goal categories. She holds the school record for three-point field goal attempts (15) and makes (8) in a game, three-point field goal attempts (192) and makes (70) in a season and three-point field goal attempts (549) and makes (162) in a career.

In addition to her success on the hardwood, Carraher enters her final season on the women’s tennis team as a three-time All-OAC first team selection. The standout has compiled a 29-4 singles record during her career.
