AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) released its 2008 Women’s Basketball Academic All-OAC award winners Tuesday (March 11) morning, and Marietta College senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) were both named Academic All-OAC.

Pagenhardt led the team and finished second in the OAC in scoring, averaging 17.0 points. She also contributed 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.8 steals per game in 2007-08. Pagenhardt finished her career fourth all-time in scoring with 1,454 points and as the career leader in three-point field goal attempts with 380.

BEREA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team closed its season out with a 72-49 loss at No. 10 Baldwin-Wallace Saturday (Feb. 23) afternoon. The loss brings the Lady Pioneers' final record to 5-19 overall and 2-16 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Baldwin-Wallace closes out the regular season 23-2 overall, 16-2 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets won the regular season title and enter the upcoming eight-team OAC Tournament as the top seed.

Senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) led the Pioneers with 25 points, giving her 1,454 career points, which ranks her fourth on Marietta's all-time scoring list. No other Pioneer player scored above five points in the loss. Sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added nine rebounds to go along with her five points.

Lady Pioneers close out season Saturday at No. 10 Baldwin-Wallace

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College seniors Stephanie Dowd (Willoughby/Willoughby South), Natalie Jackson (Circleville), and Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) played their final home game at Fenton Court Wednesday (Feb. 20) evening. The trio was recognized before the game for all their accomplishments and hard work throughout their four years as part of Pioneer women's basketball. The game, however; was controlled by the visiting Mount Union College Purple Raiders as it defeated the Lady Pioneers, 76-44. The loss drops the Pioneers' record to 5-18 overall and 2-15 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Mount Union improves to 9-15 overall and 6-11 in the OAC.

Marietta was led sophomore forward Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) with 14 points and four rebounds. Pagenhardt scored 11 points in her final home game, improving her career total to 1,429 points. Jackson grabbed a team-high six rebounds in the loss.

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team came up short or its objective Saturday (Feb.16) afternoon, losing to John Carroll University 90-78 on Fenton Court. The Blue Streaks were able to cool down the hot-shooting Lady Pioneers after its recent two game win streak. The loss drops Marietta’s record to 5-17 overall and 2-14 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). John Carroll improves to 15-8 overall and 10-6 in the OAC.

Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) led all scorers with 22 points and also added four assists. Junior guard Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) scored 15 points while dishing out five assists. Sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds, one shy of tying the school record.

Pioneer women shoot down Muskingum 84-67
Carraher sets single game three-point record and scores career-high 28 points

MARIETTA, Ohio — Junior guard Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) led the Lady Pioneers with a career-high 28 points, while setting the school's single-game record for three-point field goals made with eight and three-point field goals attempted with 15, to help the Marietta College women's basketball team rout visiting Muskingum College, 84-67, Wednesday (Feb. 13) night at Ban Johnson Arena.

The win improves Marietta's record to 5-16 overall and 2-13 in the OAC. Muskingum falls to 9-13 overall and 3-12 in league play. Not since the 2004-05 season had the Lady PIoneers won two straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) games. Ironically, those two games also came against both Heidelberg College and Muskingum.

Marietta women upset Heidelberg 61-56
Meiring earns first Ohio Athletic Conference victory

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team withstood a late rally to defeat Heidelberg College, 61-56, Saturday (Feb. 9) afternoon at Fenton Court. The win snapped a 33-game Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) slide and marked the first win for the Lady Pioneers in conference since Feb. 11, 2006. Marietta improves to 4-16 overall and 1-13 in the OAC, while Heidelberg drops to 9-12 overall and 4-10 in the OAC. The victory was also the first for first-year Head Coach Jill Meiring.

Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) bounced back from two sub-par games to lead the all scorers with 24 points. Junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) scored 15 points on her way to breaking the single-season school record for three-point field goals and three-point field goal attempts. She has now connected on 56-of-160 (.350) from behind the arc this season. Senior Natalie Jackson (Circleville) and sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) both collected 10 rebounds in the win.

Pagenhardt named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
Senior now eligible for Academic All-America honors

MARIETTA, Ohio — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District women's basketball teams Thursday (Feb. 7), and Marietta College senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) earned first team honors in District IV. Pagenhardt is now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.

Sports Information Directors from the district (all NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama) nominate and vote on selections with first team all-district selections moving onto the national ballot. In order to qualify a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve.

Junior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) led the Lady Pioneers with 16 points each. MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team gave visiting Wilmington College all it could handle Saturday (Feb. 2) afternoon at Fenton Court in a 59-45 loss. The loss drops Marietta's record to 3-15 overall and 0-12 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Wilmington improves to 15-4 overall and 9-3 in the OAC.

Junior Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) led the Pioneers with a career-high tying 15 points and dished four assists. Sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) recorded a double double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Wilmington's defense held Marietta's two leading scorers Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) to a combined 11 points and 5-of-26 (.192) from the field.

The loss drops Marietta's record to 3-14 overall and 0-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). With the win, Otterbein improves its record to 9-9 overall and 5-6 in the OAC.

Senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett), the OAC's leading scorer, led Marietta with 17 points. Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) and Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) each scored 14 points for the Pioneers. Driscoll added seven assists in the defeat.

ADA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team started off strong against Ohio Northern, the Ohio Athletic Conference’s number one team, in hopes of pulling off the upset. The Lady Polar Bears, however, battled back to keep a hold of first place in the Conference with an 82-64 victory at home. The loss drops Marietta’s record to 3-13 overall and 0-10 in the OAC. Ohio Northern improves to 14-3 overall and 9-1 in the OAC.

Sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) led Marietta with 15 points and four assists. Carraher finished 5-of-7 (.714) from behind the arc for the game. Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) each scored 12 points. Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's basketball team wrapped up the first half of its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schedule Saturday (Jan. 19) afternoon with a 77-56 loss to No. 15 Baldwin-Wallace College on Fenton Court. The loss drops the Lady Pioneers' record to 3-12 overall and 0-9 in OAC. The Yellow Jackets improve to 14-2 overall and 7-2 in the OAC.

It took a while for both team's to get going, as Baldwin-Wallace led just 8-2 through the first four minutes. The Yellow Jackets eventually stretched their lead to 19 points before taking a 43-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. Marietta never got closer than 13 points in the second stanza, as Baldwin-Wallace extended its advantage to 26 and then coasted to the 77-56 victory.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) scored her 1,286th career point and moved into fourth place on the Pioneer's all-time scoring list Saturday (Jan. 12) afternoon, but the Marietta College (3-10, 0-7 OAC) women's basketball team remained winless in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) after a 85-64 loss to host John Carroll University (8-4, 3-4 OAC).

Pagenhardt, who finished 9-of-19 from the field, scored a game-high 22 points, allowing her to surpass Libby McCandlish '01, who finished her career with 1,283 points, on Marietta's career scoring chart. The OAC's leading scorer also added a team-high eight rebounds.

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team could not overcome 15 first-half turnovers as it lost to the No. 25 Capital Crusaders, 90-51, on Saturday (Jan. 5) afternoon at Fenton Court. The loss drops the Lady Pioneers record to 3-8 overall and 0-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). With the win, Capital improves its record to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.

Leading the way for Marietta was senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Junior guard Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) added 15 points and five assists. Sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) scored 12 points and collected five rebounds. OBERLIN, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball ball took to the road during the holiday and returned with an 80-54 victory over the Oberlin Yeowomen. With the win the Lady Pioneers improve to 3-7 overall on the year, while Oberlin falls to 1-8.

Hot shooting propelled Marietta, who had not played since Dec. 14, to its third win of the season as it shot 26-of-52 (.500) from the field, including 11-of-21 (.524) from behind the arc, to go along with 17-of-18 (.944) from the free throw line. Oberlin finished 19-of-56 (.339) from the field, 3-of-15 (.200) from three, and 13-of-17 (.765) from the free throw line.

The loss drops Marietta's record to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Heidelberg improved to 3-4, 1-3 in the OAC.

Carraher finished 6-of-9 from long range and hit 2-of-2 from the line in the game. Sophomore Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. Senior Natalie Jackson (Circleville) also contributed offensively with nine points. Junior Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) dished out seven assists in the loss.

WILMINGTON, Ohio — Marietta College's senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) scored a game-high 25 points, but Wilmington College rolled to an 88-65 victory over the visiting Pioneers Saturday (Dec. 8) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play. The loss, Marietta's third in a row, dropped its record to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Quakers improved to 7-1, 3-0 in the OAC.

Marietta, who turned the ball over a season-low 16 times, finished the day 22-of-67 (.328) from the field, including 7-of-25 (.280) from beyond the arc. Wilmington, who dominated the boards 51-39, shot 35-of-66 (.530) from the floor, including 11-of-21 (.524) from long range in the win.

Senior Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) led all scorers with 20 points and added a team-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) scored 14 points, and senior Natalie Jackson (Circleville) added eight points in the loss.

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team' two-game win streak came to an end Saturday (Dec. 1) afternoon with a 87-46 loss to rival Ohio Northern University in both team's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener on Fenton Court.

The Polar Bears, who improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the OAC, shot a blistering 33-of-48 (.688) from the floor, including 16-of-19 (.842) in the second half. The Pioneers fell to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in league play after shooting 19-of-48 (.396) from the field.

Marietta women top Bethany (W.Va.) 74-63 for second straight win
Pagenhardt pours in 32 points to lead Pioneers

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team is officially off to a fresh start under first-year Head Coach Jill Meiring. The Lady Pioneers defeated Bethany College 74-63 Wednesday (Nov. 28) night at Fenton Court, marking the first time since early in the 2005-06 season that the Marietta women have won back-to-back games. The win improves the Pioneers’ record to 2-3. Bethany falls to 3-3.

Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) created problems all night for the Bison defense on her way to scoring a game-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds. This was third time that Pagenhardt hit the 30-point mark in her career. For the game, Pagenhardt finished 12-of-26 (.462) from the field, 1-of-3 (.333) from three-point range, and 7-of-8 (.875) from the line.

MARIETTA, Ohio — Denison University defeated Thiel College, 76-58, to capture the 23rd annual Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot Tournament Sunday (Nov. 25) afternoon on the campus of Marietta College. The Pioneers picked up their first win of the year with a 49-43 victory over New Jersey City University in the consolation game.

In the second semifinal, Denison rolled past New Jersey City, 80-56, to set up a showdown between the Big Red and the Tomcats in Sunday's (Nov. 25) final at 3 p.m. Marietta will take on New Jersey City in the consolation game at 1 p.m.

Lady Pioneers fall to Gators 69-47 in consolation game of Allegheny Tip-off Tournament
Marietta paced by Pagenhardt's 19 points in loss

MEADVILLE, Pa. — The Marietta College women’s basketball team wrapped up its weekend at the National City Tip-off Tournament with a 69-47 loss to host Allegheny College Saturday (Nov. 17) afternoon in the consolation game. With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 0-2 on the year. The Gators improved to 1-1.

Marietta once again started slow on Saturday, allowing its opponent to build an early double-digit lead. The Pioneers missed their first three shots and turned the ball over three times before senior Stephanie Dowd (Willoughby/Willoughby South) hit a jumper four minutes into the game to make the score 9-2 in favor of the Gators.

Marietta women open hoops season with 77-57 loss to Grove City
Lady Pioneers to play Allegheny Saturday in consolation game at 1 p.m.

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Senior guard Justine Pagenhardt (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) scored a game-high 25 points, but it was not enough to secure Head Coach Jill Meiring a victory in her Pioneer debut. The Marietta College women's basketball team suffered a 77-57 loss to Grove City (Pa.) College Friday (Nov. 16) night in the opening round of the National City Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Allegheny College.

A rough first half put Marietta (0-1) into too big of a hole against Grove City (1-0), who advanced to take on Bluffton University in Saturday's championship game. The Beavers defeated the host Gators, 70-56, in the first game of the tournament.

Lady Pioneers continue to rebuild

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team continues its rebuilding process in 2007-08. The program, which has endured its fourth coaching change in the last three years, is looking for some stability under first-year Head Coach Jill Meiring, who joins the Pioneers after six seasons as an assistant at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.

Marietta returns five of eight letterwinners and three starters from the 2006-07 squad. Senior two-time All-OAC guard Justine Pagenhardt will be asked once again to carry the offense. Pagenhardt, Marietta’s seventh 1,000-point scorer, has averaged 13.9 points over her first three seasons.

Former Transylvania assistant Jill Meiring named new women's basketball coach at Marietta College
Meiring becomes 11th Pioneer coach in team history

MARIETTA, Ohio — Former Denison University two-sport standout and Transylvania University assistant coach Jill Meiring has been named the new Marietta College women's basketball coach. The announcement came from Athletics Director Debbie Lazorik Thursday (May 17) afternoon.

Meiring, the 11th coach since the program began in 1974-75, replaces 23-year veteran Ted Eskildsen, who retired in April after one year at the helm of the Lady Pioneers.
