Lady Pioneers compete at 11th annual OVIRCs

MARIETTA, Ohio - On Saturday (Feb. 12), Marietta College played host to eight teams for the 11th annual Ohio Valley Indoor Rowing Championships in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. Over the years, the event has become a great showcase for athletes to demonstrate their improvements from the end of the fall season.
Over 140 athletes, representing eight organizations competed in 21 events Saturday, which included high school, collegiate and other athletes. All races were 2,000 meters, except the coxswains sprints.
The women's squad was led by freshman Vanessa Pfab (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler Area), who placed first in the Freshmen/Novice Lightweight race with a time of 8:29.9.
Freshman Rita Soworwoski (Medina) was the top Pioneer finisher in the Freshmen/Novice Heavyweight race. She placed third, erging to a time of 8:03.4.
Junior Lindsay Letterle (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler Area) was the first Lady Pioneer to finish in the Women's Open, completing her race in 7:36.1.
Senior Megan Rogers (Allison Park, PA/ Hampton) won the Lightweight race with a time of 7:57.2.
The Lady Pioneers will now prepare for their spring training trip (Mar. 4-12) to Palm Bay, FL. They will look to defend their Keuper Cup Regatta title at the conclusion of the week (Mar. 12)
