Mar. 12, 2005
FELLSMERE, Florida - The Lady Pioneers traveled to Florida for its annual spring training camp (Mar. 4-13). After practicing all week, the Pioneer Navy hit the waters on Canal 54 to defend its Keuper Cup championship.

Coach Karen Glowacki's crew entered a Varsity Eight and JV Eight into the competition, a 2000 meter sprint, which included Temple, Florida Tech, Emory-Riddle and Stetson.

The Varsity squad rowed to a second place finish in its preliminary heat with a time of 7:22.9 to advance to the finals. Florida Tech (7:15.4) won the heat, while Temple (7:09.5) took first place in the second heat. Those three boats met later that day in the finals. Temple (6:47.8) won the race to take the title away from Marietta (6:56.2), which finished second. Florida Tech (7:00.3) finished third.

The JV Eight raced two Temple boats in its race. Temple "A" won the race with a time of 7:38.1, while Marietta (7:56.0) and Temple "B" (8:03.3) finished second and third, respectively.

Marietta will return to the water in preparation for its next race, the 49th annual MC vs. Purdue Challenge Cup, which will be raced on the site of the 1994 World Championships on Eagle Creek Reservoir in west Indianapolis, IN.
