Lady Pioneers finish second to Purdue at Challenge Cup

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Lady Pioneers crew team hit the road for its second competition of the spring Saturday (Mar. 16), as Purdue hosted Marietta for its annual Challenge Cup. They were joined by guest Drake.

Marietta had two boats race Saturday, the JV Eight and the Varsity Eight. The JV Eight competed against two Boilermaker boats in the 2nd Varsity Eight race. Purdue's 2nd Varsity Eight took first place with a time of 7:03.2), while its Freshmen boat took second (7:09.02). The Pioneers followed in third, crossing the line in 7:35.34.

The Pioneer Navy's Varsity Eight placed second in its race with a time of 7:06.6. Purdue took first with a time of 6:55.6 and Drake finished third (7:19.81).

Coach Karen Glowacki and her squad will return to Marietta where it will prepare for this weekend's (Apr. 2-3) 11th Annual Marietta Invitational Regatta, which will be held on the Muskingum River.
