MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College Women’s Rowing program had three members of the Varsity Eight selected to the Division III Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete Team, released this week.
Seniors Megan Rogers (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) and Amanda Stoner (Northwood/Notre Dame Academy) and junior Kelsey McNamara (Columbus/Upper Arlington) were all given the honor of National Scholar-Athlete.
Rogers, an environmental science major, assumed the bow seat this past season for the Pioneers, while McNamara, a marketing major, sat in the sixth seat. Stoner, also an environmental science major, was a key contributor to the Varsity Eight’s success this year.
The Varsity Eight rowed to an overall record of 25-8 on the water this spring. The ladies took home titles at the 11th Annual MC Invitational and the Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association Championships, as well as a silver medal at the Dad Vail Collegiate Rowing Association Championships.
The CRCA National Scholar-Athlete must have a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average for her career, be at least a sophomore standing and have rowed for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races.
