Marietta's Blahnik named OAC Player-of-the-Week

Sept. 13, 2004

TWINSBURG, Ohio - Marietta College junior goalkeeper Bethany Blahnik (Mansfield/Ontario) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player-of-the-Week for her efforts this past week (Sept. 6-12).

Blahnik helped lead Marietta (4-1) to a perfect 3-0 record last week, which included winning a tournament championship at the inaugural Hoss's/Comfort Inn Lion Challenge Invitational Soccer Tournament, hosted by Penn State-Altoona, over the weekend.

The Marietta defense has recorded four consecutive shutouts and have outscored opponents 11-0 over that stretch.

Blahnik, who tended goal for every second of the 2003 season, has played all but 17 minutes this season. She made 10 saves last week to give her 19 on the season.

The Pioneers will put their four-game win streak on the line next Tuesday (Sept. 21) when they take on the University of Charleston (WV) at 8 p.m. at Don Drumm Stadium.
