Lady Knights end Pioneers' win streak with 2-0 victory

URBANA, Ohio - The Urbana University women's soccer
team accomplished two things Marietta opponents had not done in three weeks, score a goal and defeat the Pioneers. The Blue Knights did both of those in route to a 2-0 victory on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 26).

Urbana (4-4-2) scored two goals in the second half, while holding MC scoreless for the first time this season. The loss, snapped a streak of six straight shut out victories for Marietta (6-2).

Darby McCullough, a freshman forward, scored the first goal with 22:10 remaining in the second half, with assists from seniors Michelle Williams and LaToya Harris.

Harris scored a goal with 18.5 seconds remaining in the game on an assist from McCullough.

Goalkeeper Bethany Blahnick (Mansfield/Ontario) had 4 saves for Marietta in the loss.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back Tuesday (Sept. 28) when they visit Shawnee State for a 4 p.m. game.
