Polar Bears score 1-0 victory over Marietta in OAC opener

ADA, Ohio - The Marietta College women's soccer team suffered its first Ohio Athletic Conference loss of the 2004 season Saturday (Oct. 2), falling to the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern 1-0.

The Pioneers (7-3, 0-1 OAC) were out shot 18-11 in the game, which remained scoreless until the 89th minute when Diana Smith scored the unassisted goal to give ONU the victory.

Marietta's Bethany Blahnik (Mansfield/Ontario) had seven saves in the loss, the second defeat in the last three contests for the Pioneers.

Coach Pat Holguin's squad will look to rebound Tuesday (Oct. 5) when it hosts Wilmington at 7 p.m. at Don Drumm Stadium.
