Women's soccer stays in OAC race with 1-0 victory over Blue Streaks

MARIETTA, Ohio - Freshman Kelly Lehosit (Pickerington) scored her first goal of the year and the defense picked up its 10th shutout of the season, as the Pioneers defeated John Carroll 1-0 in OAC action Saturday (Oct. 16) at Don Drumm Stadium.

Marietta (10-4, 3-2 OAC) conrtolled the tempo in the first half and then played stellar defense as John Carroll applied the pressure in the final 45 minutes.

Lehosit scored the goal in the 42nd minute and was assisted by Colby Cardwell (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service). The assist was Cardwell's fifth of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Bethany Blahnik (Mansfield/Ontario) had seven saves in the win.

The Pioneers will look for their third straight win when they take on Otterbein in Westerville Tuesday (Oct. 19) at 4 p.m.
