Marietta women fall 4-0 to host Kenyon
Pioneers remain scoreless in losses this season

Sept. 27, 2006
GAMBIER, Ohio — The Marietta College women's soccer team wrapped up its non conference schedule with a 4-0 loss to host Kenyon Wednesday (Sept. 27) afternoon.

The Ladies (6-2), ranked fifth in the latest SCAA/adidas Senior College Great Lakes Regional Rankings, completely dominated the shot chart, out shooting the Pioneers (4-3-3) 32-3 in the game. Kenyon, however, was held off the scoreboard for the first 49 minutes.

Marietta has now failed to score a goal in each of its three losses this season.

Amy Kessler gave the Ladies a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 50th minute, when she scored off a cross from the right flank.

Kenyon scored a pair of goals in a 21-second span during the 71st minute and added another in the 85th minute.

Marietta's Jenna Freeman (Bay Village) collected 13 saves and allowed three goals in 81 minutes, while Beth Gasaway (Fairborn) gave up the final goal.

The Pioneers must quickly refocus, as they prepare to battle reigning OAC champion Otterbein in both team's League opener Saturday (Sept. 30). Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Marietta Field.
