Two women's soccer players earn Academic All-OAC honors
Martinez named Academic All-OAC for second straight year

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced the 2007 Academic All-OAC women's soccer winners Tuesday (Nov. 20) morning and two Marietta College student-athletes received league recognition. Junior Jessica Martinez (Strongsville/Magnificat) earned Academic All-OAC while senior Jennifer Wickerham (Massillon/Jackson) was given honorable mention.
Martinez, a 2006 and 2007 All-OAC honorable mention forward, led the Pioneers in scoring with a team-high eight goals and two assists this fall. Martinez, who started all 17 games, had three game-winning goals this season. She has now collected 21 goals and five assists in her career. Martinez will enter her final season ranked third all-time at Marietta in goals scored (21) and points (45). Off the field, Martinez, who also earned Academic All-OAC in 2006, carries a 3.66 grade point average as a health science major. She is a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List.
Wickerham, a defender, anchored the Pioneers' defense for a fourth straight season. She played a vital role in the team's seven shutouts and provided senior leadership to a young goalkeeper. In the classroom, Wickerham, a health science major, maintains a 3.43 grade point average. She is a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List and active in the Health Professions Club. She is also the President of Marietta's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The Navy Blue & White found its share of success this season, winning the Penn State-Altoona Tournament for the fourth straight year and taking second place in its own Marietta College Classic. The Lady Pioneers finished with an overall record of 8-8-1. They placed sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a league record of 3-6.
