Marietta's Martinez named OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Senior moved into second place on all-time goals list on Tuesday

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) office announced its weekly awards on Monday (Oct. 27) afternoon, and Marietta College senior forward Jessica Martinez (Strongsville/Magnificat) was named the OAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

Martinez, a captain and four-year starter, assisted a pair of goals and scored a third to lead the Pioneers (4-9-3, 2-2-3 OAC) to a 3-1 win over first-place Wilmington College on Tuesday (Oct. 21). The goal, her sixth of the season, moved her into a tie with Amy Lehosit '06 for second place on the squad's all-time goals list with 27. She also increased her career point total to 63, which ranks third in school history.

Marietta, who currently sits in sixth place in the OAC standings, will look to stay in the running for one of the six OAC Tournament slots when the Pioneers play host to Mount Union College on Wednesday (Oct. 29) at 4 p.m. The game is slated to be broadcast by WMRT-FM 88.3. and can be heard online at http://pioneers.marietta.edu/onlinebroadcasts.html.
