Marietta women's soccer eliminated from OAC Tournament contention with 3-0 loss to Ohio Northern
Pioneers finish the year 5-10-3

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's soccer team closed out its season Saturday (Nov. 1) afternoon with a 3-0 loss to visiting Ohio Northern University at Marietta Field. With the loss, the Pioneers were eliminated from the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament picture and finished the year 5-10-3 overall and 3-3-3 in the OAC. The Polar Bears, who wrapped up the second seed in the OAC Tournament, improved to 13-5-1, 7-2 in league play.

Saturday ended the collegiate careers of three Marietta seniors. Amanda Fishburn (Cincinnati/Seton), Jessica Martinez (Strongsville/Magnificat) and Allie Williams (FIshers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) were honored before the game for their four years of dedication to Marietta Soccer.

Marietta was out-shot 19-9 overall and 7-2 in shots on goal. Both teams had four corner kicks in the game.

Ohio Northern jumped out to a 1-0 lead 20 seconds into the game when Angie Piscut beat Marietta's keeper with a shot from 10-yards away. Erin Stapp assisted the play.

The Polar Bears added to their lead in the 26th minute. Chelsea Albert received a short touch-pass from Jamie Eiben when they were both in the box and fired it into the back of the net from 12-yards out.

Ohio Northern capped the scoring in the 64th minute after Piscut connected on a shot from inside the six-yard box after a pass from Kaitlin Sanders.

Sophomore goalkeeper Helen Hetzel (Radnor/Buckeye Valley) made four saves in the loss, while Kristen DeWees had two saves in the win.
