Marietta women open 2009 season with 7-2 loss to Cedarville
Carraher begins spring with 30th career win at first singles

MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College senior standout Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) collected her 30th career win at first singles in a 7-2 Pioneer loss to visiting NAIA foe Cedarville University on Saturday (March 21) afternoon at the Beren Tennis Center. The win improved the Yellow Jackets' record to 2-2, while the Pioneers fell to 0-1.
Carraher overcame a first set loss to win the second and force a third-set, 10-point tie breaker. The three-time All-OAC first team selection took care of business in that final set to win 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 and improve 30-4 in her singles career.
Carraher teamed with junior Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) earlier in the match to win 8-6 at first doubles.
Marietta is back in action on Wednesday (March 24) afternoon when the Pioneers play host to Shawnee State University. The match will begin at the Beren Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
