Muskingum edges Marietta women's tennis 5-4
Pioneers play host to Capital University Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) loss at rival Muskingum College on Wednesday (April 8) afternoon.

Senior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) and junior Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) helped the Pioneers (1-5, 0-4 OAC) win a point at fist doubles with an 8-0 victory, but the Fighting Muskies (1-9, 1-4 OAC) led 2-1 after the doubles competition.

Behind 6-0, 6-0 wins from both Carraher at first singles and McKiernan at second singles, as well as a 7-5, 6-1 win from junior Jen Wolfe (Ravenswood, W.Va.) at fifth singles, Marietta fought back to tie the match at 4-4. Muskingum, however, secured the win with a 7-5, 7-5 win at fourth singles.

Marietta is back on the court Thursday (April 9) afternoon when the Pioneers play host to Capital University. Action begins at the Beren Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
