Mount Union defeats Marietta 7-2
Pioneers visit Shawnee State on Thursday at 3 p.m.

MARIETTA, Ohio — Senior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) bounced back from her first singles loss of the season, but the Marietta College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to visiting Mount Union College on Wednesday (April 22) evening inside the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
Carraher, who improved to 9-1 on the year, earned a point for Marietta (2-8, 1-7 OAC) at first singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over her Mount Union (12-6, 4-3 OAC) opponent.
Junior Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./South) and Carraher won the Pioneers' other point with an 8-6 victory at first doubles earlier in the match. The duo increased its record to 7-2 when playing together this season.
Marietta returns to the court on Thursday (April 23) afternoon when the Pioneers travel to Portsmouth, Ohio, for a match against host Shawnee State University at 3 p.m. Marietta defeated Shawnee State 5-4 in a match earlier in the season.
