Pioneer women fall 8-1 to Ohio Northern on Senior Day
Carraher wins 40th career singles match

MARIETTA, Ohio — Visiting Ohio Northern University put the finishing touches on an undefeated Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season with a 8-1 victory over the Marietta College women's tennis team Saturday (April 25) afternoon at Beren Tennis Center.
Marietta senior Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard/Davidson) had a memorable Senior Day. She defeated Kaitlyn Macdonald 6-3, 6-4 in first singles to win her 40th career match. Carraher, who improved to 11-1, also avenged one her five career losses, a 7-5, 6-3 decision against Macdonald in 2007.
The top-seeded Polar Bears (17-5, 9-0 OAC) and eighth-seeded Pioneers (2-10, 1-8 OAC) will face off in the first round of the OAC Tournament on Wednesday (April 29) afternoon in Ada, Ohio. |
