Dr. Hogue specializes in 20th century literature, teaching courses in American and postcolonial literature. She frequently presents papers at conferences and has published articles dealing with pedagogy, Midwestern regional literature, and intersections between postcolonial and African-American approaches to literature.

A former journalist, Dr. Hogue enjoys teaching writing classes, including English Composition, Creative Nonfiction, and several writing-intensive literature classes.
