Department of Communication and Media Studies

The Communication and Media Studies Department is committed to promoting knowledge, criticism and practical application of human and media communication by educating students to be critical observers of social problems and professional practitioners in the media professions.

The department strives to improve students' communication skills and their critical and analytic abilities concerning both the process and consequences of human and media communication. We provide a stimulating and professionally-oriented learning environment based upon collaborative learning and practical application, and requiring high standards of scholarship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students are provided with opportunities to excel in various areas of communication and media, including radio, television, print media, online media, advertising, public relations, and organizational communication.
