“I am very proud of our students. They have worked really hard thus far this semester and it is paying off. I am especially proud of our novice debaters. Marietta College hasn’t competed in debate in quite some time; however, the students showed that Marietta is not to be ignored,” stated by Dr. Tomeka Robinson.
"At Berea we were very pleased with our final placement, but more rewarding was the way in which this team continues to solidify and become a very tight unit. Everyone was contributing at a high level, and that bodes very well for the remainder of our tournaments this semester," stated by Phil Sizemore.
"Competing for the first time in parliamentary debate was great. We had well constructed arguments, debated with integrity and intellect, and represented Marietta well. After an absence on the debate circuit, Marietta is a fierce competitor once again," stated by Nyssa Wilkerson.
“I enjoyed seeing the variety of pieces and their interpretations. The quality of interp at this tournament was for the most part excellent. There was a lot of creativity. I'm proud of our team performance. Everyone worked very hard,” stated by Valerie Price.
“Our plans for the year included attending as many tournaments as possible, hosting the 61st annual Wilcox tournament, learning, having fun, and representing Marietta College in the best manner possible. For a team to have already competed in five tournaments and amassed 46 awards by the end of October is an amazing feat. We are so proud of our competitors, and we look forward to the remainder of the season,” stated Dr. Mabry O’Donnell.
