Be a Part of Something Special
The Edwy R. Brown Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology offers a B.S. degree program in petroleum engineering that is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Committee (EAC) of ABET, Inc., a federation of 28 professional and technical societies that is recognized as a U.S. accreditor of college and university programs.
We are the 9th largest petroleum engineering program in the United States and the only program at a small, liberal arts college. Our environment allows each student to receive one-on-one help from professors to ensure academic success.
In addition to top-quality classroom instruction, summer internship opportunities abound. Beginning with freshman year, students have the chance to gain hands-on experience in exciting internships from the Ohio Valley to California—and even abroad.
Students also have the opportunity to develop professional abilities in the chapter of Society of Petroleum Engineers, an organization that meets regularly and participates in national and regional SPE conferences.
Our graduates have enjoyed 100% job placement upon graduation for the past several years, having beenhired full-time by companies such as Chevron, Anadarko, Schlumberger and Energy Corporation of America.
And starting salaries for petroleum engineers are the highest of any engineering discipline. Permanent salaries for 2006 were as high as $75,000, with summer internship salaries reaching $5,000 per month.
