Psychology Student Organizations & Activities
From formal organizations to research conferences to service activities, there’s something for everyone to become involved in through the Department of Psychology.
The Marietta College Psychology Club meets monthly during the academic year, and includes elected officer positions. The Psychology Club attends conferences each year, plans service activities, holds a psychology-themed movie night, and takes trips to places like the Moundsville Haunted Penitentiary and the Center for History of Psychology in Akron, OH, among other activities. Psychology Club also invites speakers and discusses important information about graduate schools and careers in psychology.
There are no admission criteria for the Psychology Club…anyone can join! Participating in Psychology Club activities and becoming an officer are great ways to get to know your fellow students and faculty in the department.
If you’re interested in joining the Psychology Club or participating in any of our activities, please contact the faculty sponsor. Dr. Christopher Klein (email@example.com, (740)376-4795)).
Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, with the goal of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. The Marietta College chapter of Psi Chi was founded in 1981.
To be selected for membership, a student must have declared a Psychology major or minor, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be ranked in the top 35 percent of his or her class, and have completed 12 semester hours in psychology.
If you’d like more information about Psi Chi, please contact the faculty sponsor. Dr. Alicia Doerflinger (firstname.lastname@example.org, (740)376-4975)).
Psychology Jeopardy Team
Each spring at the Tri-State Undergraduate Psychology Conference, the Psychology Department Jeopardy Team competes with other colleges and universities in a contest of psychology-related knowledge. This is a great chance to show you school pride by joining or supporting the team at the conference. The Jeopardy Team has won the trophy a number of times, including the last four consecutive times.
If you’re interested in joining the Psychology Jeopardy Team, please contact the faculty sponsor. Dr. Christopher Klein (email@example.com, (740)376-4795)).
