Please note: If you are hired for a Resident Assistant position, your financial aid package could be impacted. Please check with the Financial Aid Office to see if being an RA is something you can feasibly do while at Marietta College.
Key responsibilities of the Resident Assistant
- Ability to return to campus for staff training.
- Ability to remain on campus to fulfill closing responsibilities at the end of each semester, as well as during breaks.
- Participation in the Resident Assistant evening duty rotation for your assigned residence hall.
- Attendance at weekly staff meetings within your own residence hall as well as full Resident Assistant in-services.
- Completion of paperwork such as reports, work requests and housing forms.
- Facilitation of floor meetings with residents.
- Development of relationships with residents and creation of community within your floor as well as the overall building.
- Sponsorship of regular events and programs (both educational and social).
- Confrontation of policy violations and response to emergencies that occur within the floor or building.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong commitment toward helping many different types of students, planning events, building community, and acting as a role model in a residential setting.
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average.
- Good Academic and Disciplinary standing.
- Availability for employment for the entire academic year.
- Prior approval from their supervisors regarding extra-curricular commitments beyond academics and the Resident Assistant position (e.g. Athletics, etc.)
- Satisfactory completion of the Leadership 121 class with a C or better.
- Preference given to upperclassmen who have lived on campus.

- Complete a Resident Assistant application form.
- Return the completed application to Bruce Peterson, Director of Residence Life.
- Participate in group interviews at the time listed above.
- Sign up for an individual interview at the time listed above.
