Resident Assistant Awards of Excellence 2008-2009

Outstanding Community Service Award

Brendon George

This award honors and recognizes a Resident Assistant who demonstrates a record of distinction in service to the College and surrounding Marietta community through programming, bulletin boards, and daily efforts to involve residents in an unselfish cause to help others. The award consists of a certificate and the placement of the recipient's name upon a permanent plaque.

Best Programmer Award

Not Awarded

This award is presented to a Resident Assistant who develops the most outstanding programs for his or her residents, strongly adhering to the programming ideals and requirements of the Department of Residence Life. The recipient should exceed all standards of program planning and show a determined effort to educate, develop, and involve his or her residents. The award consists of a certificate and the placement of the recipient's name on a permanent plaque.

Outstanding Programming by a Hall Council

Dorothy Webster, Russell Hall

This award recognizes the Hall Council that has developed the most outstanding programs for their fellow Marietta College students. The receiving Hall Council should also show a measurable development throughout the year in regards to individual leadership on the council and growth in regards to publicizing, planning, and implementing programs for both residents of their hall council and the college community. The award consists of the placement of the Hall Council on a permanent plaque.

Best Bulletin Board

Xixi Zhao

This award is conferred upon the Resident Assistant who has shown the most effort in creating active and engaging bulletin boards for his or her residents. These bulletin boards should demonstrate high standards of educational and creative value. The award consists of the placement of the recipient's name on a permanent plaque.

Outstanding New Resident Assistant Award

Jenna Freeman

This award recognizes the first year Resident Assistant who has consistently shown the most outstanding effort in all aspects of their job including interaction with residents, bulletin boards, programming, and leadership skills. This recipient also demonstrates commendable dedication to the job and a desire to continue working in Residence Life. The award consists of the placement of the recipient's name on a permanent plaque.

Outstanding Resident Assistant of the Year Award

Michael Scalise

This award recognizes the returning Resident Assistant who has continually shown outstanding effort in all aspects of their job including interaction with the residents, bulletin boards, programming, and leadership skills. The recipient should show dedication to the job, desire to continue working in Residence Life, and act as positive influence on other Resident Assistants. The award consists of the placement of the recipient's name on a permanent plaque.

The Michael J. Conte Goodwill Memorial Award

Gwinn Chamberlain

This award, first conferred in 2005, is to recognize outstanding effort on the part of a Resident Assistant in regards to openness, caring, and compassion shown to residents while maintaining good standing with the Department of Residence Life. The emphasis of this award is on displays of social magnanimity that are reminiscent of those exhibited by Michael J. Conte. The award consists of the placement of the recipient's name on a permanent plaque.
