Residence Hall Council

One of the best ways to get involved in residence hall life and build your community is to join your Residence Hall Council. As a member, you will advise the residence life staff about the quality of life in the residence halls, plan social events for your hall, suggest improvements to facilities, purchase recreation equipment, and keep your floormates informed about events and activities.

Each Hall Council is comprised of representatives from every floor in the residence hall. From this group of floor representatives, Hall Council officers are elected. Typically, Hall Councils elect a president, a vice president and a treasurer. Elections will be held early in the year, so watch for publicity on your floor or talk to your RA if you are interested.

Even if you are not elected to serve as a floor representative or a Hall Council officer, Council meetings are typically open to all who wish to attend, and residence life staff members are always interested in student input. Your residence experience will be as rewarding as you make it. Get involved—and make a difference for yourself and others.
