Lindsey Romick-Rosendale ’07, Director of the NMR-Based Metabolomics Core (NBMC) at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, is making a presentation at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 19th, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.
Her talk is intended for a general audience and is titled "Metabolomics: The key to understanding and treating complex diseases." Metabolomics or the study of complex metabolic pathways within single cells and whole organisms allows us to paint a more complete picture of both why and how medical anomalies and diseases, such as cancer, occur and progress. This talk will provide a basic overview of the field of metabolomics and dive into how this area of research has advanced our understanding of topics, such as cancer cell signaling, causes of spontaneous preterm births, and outcomes of children following stem cell transplant.
