Eid al Adha commemorates Abraham’s obedience to God in his willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac, and it occurs after the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the Hajj. Muslims are obliged to participate in the daily religious rituals of this celebration, which lasts from one to three days, depending upon the particular traditions of the Muslim community in question.
