To prospective students: I would like to extend my welcome to you and let you know that we are delighted that you are considering Marietta College as your destination for initial study or further study in the United States. Marietta College provides a wonderful environment for international students to experience the U.S. culture, and to feel safe and valued as they work towards educational and personal goals.
Marietta College has maintained a thriving international student population of about 60-80 students since the mid-1990s. We currently have students from 11 countries around the globe: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Greece, India, Japan, Korea, Serbia-Montenegro, Turkey and Vietnam.
The International Student Program plans many programs throughout the year to help students adjust to life at Marietta College and within the US culture. Examples of these include the Mentor Family Program, the Peer Partnership Program and various trips to local international markets, shopping malls, recreational events, etc.

Mission of the International Student Program
The presence of international students on the Marieta College campus enhances the international education of the entire campus by providing personal contacts between and among people of different cultures, not only in the classroom but beyond. Personal contacts among students, faculty, staff, and community bring a diverse, global society to the mid-Ohio valley. The mission of the International Student Program at Marietta College is to foster and support the core value of internationalization through providing necessary services to international students, encouraging international diversity on campus, and reaching out to the campus and community.
The International Student Program considers the following goals to be central to our mission:
- Providing resources needed for success as an international student in the United States and at Marietta College, namely:
- Providing accurate advice regarding the legal rights and obligations of an international student in the United States.
- Providing support and programs that ease the cultural adjustment and addressing the regulatory, academic, financial, and social concerns of international students.
- Advocating on behalf of the unique needs and interests of international students.
- Facilitating institutional compliance with government regulations to ensure Marietta College's continued approval to host international students and scholars.
- Collaborating with the Admission Office to recruit a diverse population of international students to attend Marietta College.
- Planning events and organizing programs that raise cultural awareness on and off campus.
