Peer Partnership Program (PPP)
The PPP matches international and American students for the purpose of cultural and conversation exchange. This is a great program for people studying a foreign language, seeking certification in TEFL, preparing to study abroad, those majoring in ILS, IBM, etc, and for anyone interested in making a friend from another culture.
Students are assigned a partner for one semester. Partners meet 1-2 hours per week (over a meal, in the residence halls, at the gym, etc.) for the first semester. At the semester break, participants may choose to stay involved with the same partner the following semester, choose a new partner, or to opt out for the next term. |
 |
Participants are encouraged to keep a log of their activities and to journal in order to process the experience. Occasional group meetings and/or activities will be planned throughout the semester.

We hope that PPP partners will attend many campus activities together. Participants may only count hours for time spent interacting with each other. Attending an art exhibit or a basketball game can allow for fun and easy conversation, however watching a theatre production or a public lecture should not be counted as you will not be (or should not be) talking to each other at that time.
Note: The PPP is not a tutoring program—the ARC and Campus Writing Center are the best places for academic support. It is, however, a fun way to practice language skills. And it is definitely a great way to make a new friend! |
