Welcome to the Marietta College, Dr. J. Michael Harding Center for Health and Wellness (CHW) Counseling Internship. There are many factors to consider in determining fit with an internship training site, including; client population, clinical issues, personal goals, professional opportunities, and sometimes geography. CHW believes that one of the most important factors of a successful internship year is the personal and professional connection between interns and the training site. Throughout the application and interview process you will find that the staff at CHW strives to consistently demonstrate our commitment to diversity and to a balanced personal and professional atmosphere.

Marietta College CHW is a small-sized, busy, active college-centered counseling site, dedicated to both service and training, and strong in our commitment to multifaceted work with the college community. While Marietta College has a predominately European American student population, CHW works hard to earn the trust of all students on campus and as a result sees diverse students in consistently greater numbers than represented in the general student population. Interns have the opportunity to work with international students; gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students; students identifying as African, African-American, Latino/a, Appalachian, Asian, and Asian-American; students of varied socioeconomic status; nontraditional students; and we continue to build relationships with other groups of marginalized students.

The training program at CHW emphasizes multicultural experiences, employs a staff diverse in multicultural expertise and background, and strongly encourages internship applications from candidates who represent diverse groups and hold a strong commitment to diversity work. Our interns are diverse in ethnicity/nationality/race, gender identity, physical ability, religion/spirituality, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation.

Equal Opportunity in Education and Employment: Marietta College is committed to providing equal opportunity and an educational and work environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, military status, or veteran status. Marietta College shall adhere to all applicable state and federal equal opportunity/affirmative action statutes and regulations.

We invite you to the Marietta College webpage (w3.marietta.edu) for additional information about the college and its community. Please go to the Center for Health and Wellness (CHW) Staff page for an introduction to our staff and their interests.
