Mitch Casey, an adjunct professor at Marietta College, has worked as a photojournalist for 20 years. He begins his ninth year teaching Mass Media 150, and has served as the photo editor of The Marietta Times since 1998.
Prior to moving to Marietta to begin duties as a staff photographer at The Times in 1991, Casey served as the chief photographer at the Galion (Ohio) Inquirer. The winner of more than 50 Associated Press and Gannett photo awards, Casey has also performed freelance work for the Associated Press, USA Today, The Columbus Dispatch and Cleveland Plain Dealer, and has had work published in a variety of magazines and specialty publications ranging from Sports Illustrated to the National Enquirer and Pizza Monthly.
In addition, Casey includes wedding photography, portraiture, commercial imaging and athletic events in his freelancing duties. As a personal project that began several years ago, Casey is currently doing abstracts of lighthouses on the Eastern seaboard from Maine to North Carolina.
