Biography

An active instructor and collaborator, Karen Picard Young currently teaches piano at Marietta College as well as running a private piano studio. Ms. Picard Young has served on the faculty of Bowling Green State University and West Virginia University at Parkersburg along with coordinating the piano division of the Creative Arts Program, the preparatory school associated with BGSU.

Ms. Picard Young is an active supporter of the arts and music in the Marietta community. She is the founder and coordinator of the Junior Fine Arts Recitals at Marietta College and is currently the accompanist for the Marietta Children’s Choir.

For several years, Ms. Picard Young was an accompanist for the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts and has adjudicated Music Teachers National Association Piano Festivals and Sonatina Festivals throughout Ohio and West Virginia. She earned a MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Bowling Green State University where she studied with Virginia Marks, and a BM in Piano Performance and BS in Elementary Education from the State University of New York Fredonia School of Music, where she studied with Phyllis Orr East.
