2008-2009 Billing Schedule
Tuition and fees are due in full by the due date. An account is considered delinquent if the full payment due is not received and posted to your account by 4:00 p.m. on the payment due date listed on the statement. Please be advised that failure to read mail, e-mail, or view online activity does not relieve a student of the responsibility to make on-time payments in the correct amount. Students making payments after the initial due date are subject to a late payment fee of $150. All miscellaneous charges are due on the dates specified on the monthly billing statements. Tuition and fees for ALL students, including those participating in a payment plan, become an obligation for the term in question between the student and Marietta College. Payments can be made online using Mastercard, Visa, Discover, or electronic check via the eBill system. When mailing payment please allow at least five (5) days for mail delivery. International, APO, and FPO mailings should allow longer time for delivery. The finance charge for late payment is a 1.5% monthly rate charged on all balances not paid by the payment due date shown on each billing statement. Each semester's charges must be paid in full prior to registration for the next term. Participants in the TMS Payment Plan are not exempt.
Financial HoldsBusiness Office Holds are put onto accounts that have an outstanding balance. The College will not issue transcripts until the student satisfies all financial obligations to the College. The College will withhold permission to register for subsequent semesters for any student with financial obligations to the College. Those accounts that are not paid by the due date will be subject to finance charges, late fees and create sufficient cause for Marietta College to:
Marietta College may take any or all of these actions at its option. Insurance InformationThe College offers insurance plans to full-time undergraduate and international students. All students are required to have insurance during their enrollment at Marietta College. The College also offers Tuition Refund Insurance to protect your educational investment. Health and Accident InsuranceAll students must be covered by health and accident insurance. The College offers student health and accident insurance which is an excess coverage plan and is not intended to serve as primary coverage. The plan will look for payment first from other insurance or pre-payment plans. Information regarding this option is mailed to each student along with their fall semester statement. Insurance offered through the College is automatically charged to the students account, but can be waived if details regarding current health coverage are provided and a waiver is completed by the required due date of September 1, 2008. If the student does not waive the insurance by the due date, the charge of $175 will remain on the student's account. The student must go online at www.studentplanscenter.com to waive the insurance. If waiving the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan, the student must check with their insurance plan to confirm they will be covered while attending Marietta College and verify that network HMO or PPO doctors are available in the Marietta area. For students that have health insurance coverage, please note many commercial insurance plans do not cover a student after a certain age. Please check with your insurance carrier before submitting a waiver to make sure your plan will cover you for the entire school year.
International Student InsuranceThe international student insurance plan is administered by HTH Worldwide Insurance, Inc. Participation in the insurance plan is required of all international students unless the student can show to the satisfaction of the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance that s/he is covered by a plan in their home country which provides equal or near equal coverage. Except for a co-pay, the plan covers all physician office and hospital visits, costs for testing, treatment, and medication (50 percent) associated with an injury/illness. The plan does not cover pre-existing conditions, dental, or eye care costs. For more information on the insurance plan, students should contact the International Student Coordinator.
Tuition Refund InsuranceThe College encourages all students to purchase Tuition Refund Insurance. If a student is unable to complete the semester because of medical reasons, the insurance allows the student to withdraw at any time from Marietta College and receive a 100 percent refund of tuition and general fees. Students with a psychological disability will receive a 60 percent refund. A qualified physician must certify the disability. Without this insurance, a student could lose a significant investment in tuition and fees. Participation in the Tuition Refund Plan is optional. Those who wish to participate online must do so before the first day of fall classes. Students will receive information about this insurance program through the mail during the summer. Pre-Registration DepositStudents must pay a pre-registration deposit when pre-registering for Fall Semester classes. The deposit is credited against the Fall Semester charges. The deposit is refundable through June 30, provided the student informs the Records Office in writing that he or she will withdraw or take a leave of absence from the College. Payment of this deposit allows registration for classes and the room selection process.
Admission DepositPayment of the deposit by first-time students should be made to the Office of Admission. Payment of the acceptance deposit indicates the student's intent to enroll at Marietta College. The deposit will be credited toward the first semester's tuition charge.
Damage DepositAll students living in College housing pay a damage deposit of $200.00 when they enter Marietta College for the first time or re-enter following break in matriculation. The College refunds the residence hall deposit, less any charges for damage, following graduation or formal withdraw.
