What to Bring to Campus
To help you get ready for your arrival on campus, we've prepared
this list of packing suggestions. Remember, it isn't necessary
to bring everything listed!
For items marked with an asterisk (*), you may want to discuss
with your roommate ahead of time so you don't bring duplicates.
Rooms are comfortable, but not spacious; sharing large items can
save valuable space.
Bathroom Needs
- Two sets of towels (bath, face, washcloth),
- soap dish,
- toothbrush,
- container to carry shower necessities,
- shower shoes,
- other items (soap, shampoo, etc).

Academic Needs
- USB flash drive,
- notebooks,
- office supplies (pens, tape, thumbtacks, stapler, etc.),
- class schedule,
- Marietta College Course Catalog.

Room Needs
- Alarm clock,
- cordless telephone or phone with long cord*,
- desk lamp,
- paper towels,
- extension cords and surge protectors,
- cereal bowl,
- silverware,
- can opener,
- mugs or glasses,
- bed linens including mattress pad,
- drying rack*,
- rug*,
- under-the-bed boxes,
- clothes hangers,
- room decorations and posters,
- calendar.

Personal Needs
- Summer clothes (it's hot in Marietta until October),
- dress clothes,
- casual clothes,
- comfortable walking shoes,
- raincoat,
- umbrella,
- robe,
- slippers,
- laundry bag,
- detergent,

- sewing kit,
- safety pins,
- rolls of quarters and other change for washers and dryers.

- Candles or incense,
- firearms or other weapons (e.g. hunting knives, paintball guns, water pistols),
- explosives/firecrackers,
- pets (other than fish),
- toaster ovens,
- personal grills (e.g. George Foreman type grills),
- hot plate type cookers, or any open-coil cooking appliances,
- toasters,
- illegal drugs,
- alcohol,
- crockpot,
- martial arts weapons,
- air conditioner (unless you have a physician's verification of medical necessity),
- weight lifting equipment,
- waterbed,
- furniture (large sofas).
