Appalachian Nutrition Network

ANN is one of a small number of organizations licensed to administer child nutrition programs for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. We feed low income children free summer and afterschool meals.

We need students willing to help organize 40,000 books we have been given. The books will be made available to the public free with a suggested donation.

We are also interested in offering a paid internship this summer assisting with our summer food service program.

Marietta Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is seeking crossing guards to help students safely cross from the YMCA to the Middle School at the crosswalk on Glendale Road. Help keep our students safe!

Length of Time

A volunteer is needed ASAP Monday-Friday.

  • Two time slots available from 7:20am-7:45am and 2:25pm-2:45pm
  • The commitment would require only 20-25 minutes of your time twice a day!

Community Service Day Coordinator

The Marietta Family YMCA is looking for exceptional individuals to assist in coordinating Community Service Day projects, Saturday, April 19. It is a wonderful opportunity to work as a supervisor planning the event with 40-year community organizer.

This year's projects:

  • repairing old Marietta College docks now owned by Marietta Rowing and Cycling Club at Broughton Boathouse (next to college boat house) working with club members and 10-20 college students;
  • Indian Acres walking trail repair, cleaning asphalt trail for asphalt repair after the 19th; also remove limbs and other debris from park area for city to remove after the 19th; 20-30 college students and teenagers from community;
  • Incredible Community Playground, general maintenance; painting, wood fiber distribution; other winter cleanup--20-30 college and community members;
  • Putnam Street Bridge, paint out graffiti, small project for two or three people who then would help with another project;
  • YMCA general winter outdoor cleanup, 5 college students.
Service Dates and Times

Minimum of one hour in advance of Community Service Day to meet at project site; develop plan and discuss needed equipment.

Up to 10, if project supervisors are matched in pairs.

Soccer Referees

The Marietta Family YMCA is seeking soccer referees willing to officiate K-1 and 2-5th grade games.

Approximately 40 children play soccer in a foam-coated nylon covered arena. The program emphasizes cooperation over competition and the charactor development traits of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.

Service Dates and Times

Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., January 19 to March 1.
Volunteers must commit for at least 5 of the 7 Saturdays.

Youth Sport Coach or Assistant

Being a sports coach/assistant is extremely rewarding. If you are interested in working with children, helping to keep them safe and have fun, this is one of the best jobs in the world!

  • Basketball begins in November
  • Indoor soccer and floor hockey begins in January
Length of Time

Overall commitment of about 21 hours over 7 weeks. In a typical week, there is one hour of practice during the week and a one hour game on Saturdays.
