Three Marietta players score double figures in the loss

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Marietta College women’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2008-09 season, a 75-62 setback to the College of Mount St. Joseph, at the Lions’ tip-off tournament on Friday (Nov. 21) afternoon. The loss drops the Pioneers’ record to 1-1 and sends them to the consolation game, where they will take on Maryville (Tenn.) on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 1 p.m. The Lions improved to 1-0 on the season.

Senior wing Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) led Marietta with 15 points and two assists, while senior guard Nikki Driscoll (Bellaire) added eight points and nine assists. In addition, freshman post Chelsea Drake (Georgetown) contributed 13 points and seven rebounds, freshman wing Brooke Baker (Wheelersburg) had 11 points and five rebounds, junior post Jamie Beckett (Wooster/Triway) added six points and seven rebounds and freshman guard Rachel Jones (Dublin/Coffman) finished with eight points in the loss.
