Educational
Research: Planning, Coordinating, and Evaluating Quantitative

This is the best text I have
ever
come across. Very easy to read and understand. This also can be
purchased
at the bookstore.
One
copy of your final product will be handed in to your advisor. One in a loose leaf
folder for your student file. It might be a good idea to browse other papers in
the library to see if there is a format that suits your research needs.
Generally
a paper consists of the following:

Process:
To
assist you through this important process the following information is
used
to help the student through this part of your Masters program:
1.
Meet with your advisor often to check the progress of your study.
2.
Follow the proper format for your study.
3.
Make sure you have permissions from parents or participants if you are
studying
a behavior. You must fill out a Human Subjects Review form before committing to
your research!
4.
Expect to get re-writes. In other words, your final product will take many rough
drafts to develop a Final Copy. Do not expect your advisor to rewrite your paper!
Dr. Bauer will hand the research paper back if 5 marks (errors) are noticed. He
will also stop grading at that point.
5.
Use this research to help you personally or professionally. Many papers
can
be publishable in educational journals. Ask your advisor if your paper
appears
publishable and what journals would be good to pursue for
publication.
Make sure you include your advisor as your second author of your paper, 2nd name
under your name.
6.
Use the
center
is there to assist you in producing a quality document. It is their job
to
assist you in the writing process. I have found that people that utilize
this
service have less re-writes. Call Dr. Tim Catalano for support
376-4636.
The “Write Place” is located in Thomas Hall.
7.
Know what you are studying and get prior approval from your advisor or this course
instructor.
8.
Use the APA format in your paper.
9.
Study in a quiet place and expect to have lots of information spread out
all
over your work site. Provide the time to study and get away from it
when
you have to.
10.
WHEN USING A MAC OR PC MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR PAPER ON A DISC BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN YOUR COMPUTER!!!!
11. Expect a week to 10-days for turnaround time. In other words, upon handing your paper in for a review do not expect it to be reviewed immediately and handed back to you.
12. Papers turned into the professor later than the date due will be subject to a 10% per day late penalty.
