Field Biology Techniques takes
students to where it all begins - studying organisms and ecosystems in natural
settings. Students learn how to plan and execute a field study, and
learn some of the most common techniques. The catalog says:
BIOL 378 Field Biology Techniques: A
field-based course teaching techniques used by biologists to count, measure,
capture, describe, locate and otherwise investigate organisms and ecosystems
in the wild. Techniques covered include trapping, transects, quadrant
techniques, aquatic sampling, use of electronic probes, GIS and GPS, optics,
and others. Experimental design, statistics, and use of taxonomic keys are
also covered. Prerequisite: Biology 105 or 107. Credit: 1 hour
