An ecosystem study of Kapyong Creek in Korea

VI. Community analysis - Biological water quality

 Survey date : April 1. 2000

 Investigator (Team D) : Yi Hee - Jeong, Cho in - kyong, Kim so - jin, Han so - jin

 Methods

  1. DI (dominance Index) = (n1 + n2)/N

N : total number

n1, n2 : 1st, 2nd dominant species

2. Shamnon - Wiener's Diversity Index

H' =( i ni/ N) log2 (ni/N)

= 3.3219 { log 10N - 1/N ( i ni/log10ni)}

N : total number

ni : number of each species

3. GPI (group pollutant index)

 Result

DI = 0.4496

H' = 3.2611

GPI = 0.90

( Degree of Water Quality : 1 )

 Discussion

GPI is indicated by the degree of number, which is from 0 to 4.

The more degree of number is lower, water quality is considered as clean and less polluted.

Diversity Index…

3 ~ : very clean

2 ~ 3 : clean

1 ~ 2 : moderate polluted

0 ~ 1 : very polluted
