The Checkered White

Color:
The body of the Checkered White is black. All four wings have a white and black checkered pattern (Klots, 1979, 200).

Size:
The Checkered White is 1.3-1.6 inches in width (Klots, 1979, 200), and 1.5-1.8 inches in height.

Food:
The caterpillar feeds on Cabbage, and related plants such as Turnip, and Mustard, etc. (Klots, 1979, 200).

Geographic Range:
The butterfly ranges from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, south into Florida, and west to the Pacific (Klots, 1979, 200).
