The Eastern Tailed Blue


Everes comyntas (Godart, 1824)

Color:
The upperside of the male is irridescent blue; females are brown but spring individuals will have blue at the bases of the wings (Opler and Malikul, 1992).


Size:
The Eastern Tailed Blue is 13/16-1 1/8 inches in width (Opler and Malikul, 1992).

Food:
The caterpillar feeds on flowers and young seeds (Opler and Malikul, 1992).


Geographic Range:
The butterfly is found all throughout the eastern United States (Opler and Malikul, 1992).
