The Southern Wood Nymph

Color:
The Southern Wood Nymph has a brown body and wings. The two upper wings have a band of yellow in which two black and blue eyespots are located. The lower wings have one black and blue eyespot. Additionally, the edges on all four wings are dark yellow (Klots, 1979, 72).

Size:
The S. Wood Nymph is 2.0-2.75 inches in width (Klots, 1979, 72), and 2.5-2.8 inches in height.

Food:
The caterpillar feeds on various species of wild grasses (Klots, 1979, 72).

Geographic Range:
The S. Wood Nymph ranges from Canada, south into Florida and Mexico (Klots, 1979, 72).
