Liberia, Costa Rica
Marietta College Biology and Environmental Science Department Field Trip 2005/07
| I
don't know that there is such a thing as a "typical" Costa Rican
town. San Jose is a commercial and governmental center, Limon is a
shipping port with a Caribbean flair, Tamarindo is a surfer town, and so
on.
In the northwest of the country lies the region center of Liberia. Guanacaste province is the center of Costa Rica's beef industry and thus has a bit of "cowboy culture" - but in 2007 our return visit showed a town also trying to position itself as a tourist staging area for the beaches of the Pacific coast, as well as the biological wonders of the tropical dry forest and the mountain areas such as Rincón de la Vieja. |
