Welcome to Marietta College Forensics
Welcome to the wonderful, wacky, witty, world of Marietta College Forensics (competitive speech, not cadavers). If you have an interest in sharing your ideas with others, enjoy a competitive atmosphere, want to make new friends, and most importantly want to enhance your speaking skills while touching the lives of many other individuals, then forensics is for you.
Wilcox Invitation
Marietta College’s forensics team shined at home claiming an impressive 21 awards, including first place team, as the host institution during the 59th annual Ruth A Wilcox Invitational Tournament on Nov. 1.
Jacob Loukas ’09 (Windham, Maine) led the Pioneers against nine other schools with four awards, including three first-place finishes in Impromptu Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking and Persuasive Speaking. He also finished third in Sports Extemporaneous Speaking.
Marietta’s other first-place finishers were the duo of Scott Burnham ’11 (Conneatville, Pa.) and Julie Rutter ’12 (The Plains, Ohio) in Dramatic Duo Interpretation, Heather Boomer ’09 (Monument, Colo.) in After Dinner Speaking, and Abby Bogdan ’11 (Vienna, W.Va.), whose Informative Speech on cockroaches enthralled the audience.
