This is a general comment. This
class is awesome.
I am humbled by your opinion. (And, no, I did not
write the above comment myself!) |

I was looking at the Syllabus,
and was wondering do homeworks even count for a grade?? do they
replace problem sets?
There is no difference between Aplia assignments
and my problem sets. All are considered "homework" and
count 15% toward your final course grade. In computing your
homework score, I will only count your 15 best scores. |

It always seems like we are
tested (Homeworks) on material befor we learn it in class, and as the
homework is a part of our grade it just dosen't seem right. Mass
confusion erupts over Instant Messanger the night before a homeowrk is
due. None knows the right answar, and we are all going crazy
about it! a restructure might be in order, so help us out alot
You are correct that some of the Aplia
assignments quiz you over material that I have not yet gone over in
class. The point of such exercises is to make sure that students
keep up with the reading and take the learning process into their own
hands. I do not want your time in class to be your first
exposure to new material. I expect students to read the chapters
ahead of the discussion in class and be prepared to challenge
themselves through the online Aplia homework. If mass confusion
erupts over some of the assignments students are welcomed to seek out
my help--that's what I'm here for. |

All of your lectures are very thorough and I really
appreciate it that you always go step by step, no matter how many times
we've gone over the same process. (I love this music too!)
Thanks for the kind words. It's kinda weird though--I've received
comments in my past course evaluations that some students think I go too
fast and others think I go too slow. Long live rock! |

I liked having the chance to ask
questions over anything I didn't understand, however it wasn't anything
like I thought it would be. Next time, let us know that the whole point
of the review session is to have questions ready. Most people new to the
class thought it was going to be a session of reviewing the major topics
and us having questions answered as we briefly went over them. Then
additional questions at the end going over review problems. BUT, it was
a generous thing, thank you very much it was incredibly helpful. Next
time I will be even more prepared.
My apologies for not clarifying the nature of the
review session. Review sessions are strictly Q&A sessions that depend on
students to fire questions at me. |

This is not about the class, but i was
noticing that we could be using WebCT for this class, instead of Aplia.
The big feature is that WebCT is free for us to use, and Aplia is
not............ Oh well mayby next time
I've considered WebCT. The biggest
drawback for me using WebCT is that I would have to provide all the
content material and do much more extensive programming compared to
Aplia. Aplia's content capabilities far exceeds what WebCT
can handle at this point in time. |
