Book Related Activities
		1) As you read this book, list the unknown words, i.e. mesa. How can you find the meaning of the words? Did you find the meaning in the text (context clues), dictionary, etc.... 2) Name three Native American (Navaho) beliefs, traditions, or customs. 3) Pretend that you are Native Americans. What would your name be? What would your classmates' names be? Consider personal traits or personalities. 4) Write a different version of this book. Such as; What would the story be like if Bright Morning and her friends didn't escape from the Spaniards? 5) Based on this book, recreate the Navahos' native land. What would the hogans look like? What would they be made of? Etc.Use various materials to recreate Bright Mornings home.
