Sing down the Moon is a coming of age story
of a young Navaho girl during the 1860's.
During this time, the white men were forcing
the Native Americans to walk from their
native land in Arizona to a reservation in Fort
Sumner, New Mexico. This is now referred to
as the Long Walk.
