This page provides you with guidelines for analyzing,
preparing, and writing your case study responses.
In preparing for case studies, have you:
attended all classes and been an active participant in class,
responding to questions and offering your own ideas?
kept up with in-class and homework assignments?
asked for help when you are unclear about vocabulary, concepts,
etc.?
posted your ideas or answered others' questions that appear on
our class e-mail list?
In researching and writing case studies you'll need to remember:
I don't place any value on idle memorization of definitions.
cases ask you to extend and apply concepts covered in class and
through homework to new accounting questions.
case studies are take-home research and writing assignments. As
such, I expect you to work on them independently. This means you are
not permitted to talk with anyone (other than Prof. Johnson or
perhaps the College's reference librarians) about the content of the
cases, what sources to access to do research on a question, or for
interpretation of a question.
cases are graded for their organization, spelling, grammar, and
mechanics as well as their organization and content. I encourage you
to visit the Campus
Writing Center as needed. Please remember to reference my
Expectations
for Written Communication.
cases are open-ended and you MUST be sure you are answering
directly the questions being asked. You must defend your statements
and positions by clearly explaining and citing your information and
